Citations in MLA format

The Modern Language Association (MLA) revised their citation format in April 2009. This Research Guide reflects the 7th edition, 2009 revision of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers.

Scholarly Article Excerpt

Some anthologies reprint excerpts from previously published material. If the work you are citing is an excerpt, use “Excerpt from” instead of “Rpt. in” (reprinted in). The 7th edition of MLA also asks that you write “Print.” at the end of your citation for the medium of publication consulted. Double space within and between citations.
