The Library and Learning Communities at Harper

A learning community is the perfect time to collaborate with other campus partners, including the Library.

If you incorporate any research (formal or informal) or citing, a librarian might be a valuable addition to your learning community. Librarians can work with your classes in a limited way, or they can be fully embedded partners providing ongoing support. Some of the benefits of having a librarian embedded in your learning community include:

  • Students know a name and face and can conveniently and easily get help from "their" librarian
  • Librarians can help create assignments that integrate research and information literacy skills into both courses to deepen learning
  • Students are exposed to and encouraged to make use of critical campus resources such as the Library
  • Librarians can respond quickly to student and faculty needs because they are familiar with the course

If you're interested in learning more about how a librarian can collaborate with your learning community, see our page about Instruction with a Librarian or reach out to the Library's liaison for learning communities, Jennifer Lau-Bond.
