Laws, stautes and ordinances are passed, by legislative bodies such as the congress, state assemblies, or town councils. Harper college maintains the The laws of the state of Illinois known as the Illinois Compiled statutes.
The library subscribes to a legal databases called Westlaw. All federal and state decisions are available through Westlaw Harper students and employees may search this database on or off campus. Non-Students may search Campus Research, but must come on campus to use it.
State and federal governments post their laws online, usually through their legislative website. Findlaw.com is one place that collects laws and is freely available.
