Black History: 2023 Theme - Black Resistance

Black Resistance

The theme for 2023 is "Black Resistance."    There are many ways to resist and the small group of lesser-known heroes and heroines included below found many ways to resist: resisting norms, resisting expectations, resisting typecasts, resisting fear, resisting apathy, resisting negativity, resisting complacency.  How do you resist?

Each year, a theme is selected for Black History Month.  Some recent themes include: "The Crisis in Black Education", "Black Migrations", and "African Americans and the Vote".  Looking through the complete list of themes (dating back to 1928), it's interesting to contemplate what society may have been experiencing to inspire those themes.
